Why the Altitude-azimuth mount?

The question you might have right now could be: "why has Track The Stars decided to make an altitude-azimuth design instead of an Equatorial design?"

There are several reasons why we favour the altitude-azimuth design:

  • Fast setup - more time for sky watching.
  • Easy to transport - more frequent sky watching and from dark sites.
  • No need to realign the eyepiece after each goto - more user satisfaction.
  • From a mechanical point of view, it has better force distribution - more stability.
  • Takes up less space and has nice design - your wife will like it.

This is the short version and we are happy to provide you with more info on why we have decided to make a professional altitude-azimuth mounting available for the amateur astronomer. Our view is that no one has made a serious attempt before in this segment.
